Car Hits Light Pole on 127th Street, Traffic Delayed

A car hit a light pole, tilting it on its side and causing traffic delays on 127th Street near Harlem Avenue.

A black Volvo struck a light pole causing delays on 127th Street Wednesday afternoon. 

At about 3:15 p.m. the car hit a light pole on 127th Street about one block east of Harlem Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the driver of the vehicle to the hospital. The driver's condition is not known, said Palos Heights Fire Chief Jack Nagle. The Volvo was the only vehicle involved in the crash.  

The pole is still leaning in toward the parking lot of an office building located at 7110 127th Street. Police are directing traffic which has slowed to one lane in each direction.

Crews have been called to deal with the leaning pole. 

UPDATED, 4:01 p.m.: The previously leaning post has just been taken down and traffic is moving a bit quicker.
