Thieves Smash, Grab Items, Or In Some Cases Leave Vehicles A Mess In Palos Hills

Five cars parked in condo and apartment complex lots were broken into between May 2 and May 4, and one car parked in a driveway.

PALOS HILLS, IL — Smash-and-grab thieves messed with vehicles parked in community lots located at Palos Hills apartment and condominium complexes, taking a book bag and radar detector. Another vehicle parked in a driveway was also entered.

  • On May 2, while on patrol, a Palos Hills police officer noticed the rear window had been shattered on a BMW parked in the community lot in the 10200 block of 86th Street. The vehicle owner said that a black book bag was stolen.
  • Someone broke out the rear driver’s side window of a vehicle parked in the community lot in the 8500 block of 103rd Terrace, stealing a radar detector. The theft was reported May 2.
  • Over in a community parking lot of the 8400 block of 99th Terrace on May 3, someone neatly popped out the rear window of a vehicle and placed it on the ground.
  • A car parked in the community lot in the 10100 block of 84th Terrace had its passenger side window smashed on May 3. Nothing appeared to be missing.
  • The resident of an apartment complex on the 9700 block of 89th Avenue reported that someone broke the vehicle’s sunroof on May 4. The vehicle was ransacked, but nothing was missing.

Finally, a resident told police on May 4 that he saw people sitting in his car that was parked in his driveway in the 9100 bloc of Windsor Driver. The resident yelled at them and the people fled in a gray Honda SUV.
