Sports Briefs: Stagg Baseball Notches Two Wins, Stagg Tops Shepard in Volleyball

The Chargers (4-7) were led by pitcher Kyle Belluomini (2-1) 6 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 4 Ks. Steve Kubiak got the save. Matt Klimasz went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and a two-run homerun. Will Maske went 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

Stagg jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. Oak Forest made it 5-2 and then Matt Klimasz hit a big two out, two run homer to extend the lead. Oak Forest scored a run in the top of the seventh to make it 7-6 and had the tying run at second with two outs when Kubiak got a groundout back to the mound. The Chargers have now played in 8 one-run games this season.

Chargers win a thriller beating LWE 1-0 in Palos Hills on Thursday, March 29. Joe Prete (23) was outstanding on the mound in throwing a complete game. He struck out siz while giving up only four hits. Stagg scored the only run of the game after Brandon Campbell doubled to lead off the 5th. Matt Klimasz laid down a perfect bunt for a single and Campbell scored on a throwing error.

Stagg was led by Matt Meyering with 22 assists, Jordan Joseph had 11 kills and Kamil Barnas notched 6 kills, 5 blocks and 13 service points.
was led by Dan Taylor with six kills. Pat Neylon had 15 set assists.
