A Pair of Craft and Vendor Fairs Lead The Weekend Fun

Paws Candlelight Cosmic Bowl Fundraiser - The area's animal shelter will be hosting a fundraiser at Orland Bowl, 601 W. 159th St., with check-in starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person and include four games and dinner. Pre-registration is required. 

Pumpkids Painting Party -  Mid Villa Pizza, 12226 Harlem Ave., will be hosting a party for kids from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. featuring pumpkins, face painting, pizza, popcorn, apple cider, and treats available for sale. Mini pumpkins are $1, medium pumpkins $2. 

Roar and Run 5K - The Hickory Hills Lions Club hosts the annual race and walk starting at 9 a.m. at Hickory Hills City Hall, 8652 W 95th St. You can register in advance online. 

Southland Author Fair - Ten accomplished local authors will be at the Orland Park Public Library, 14921 S Ravinia Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a meet and greet event. 

Sacred Heart Church Craft and Vendor Fair - Get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping at the church's annual craft fair, 8245 W. 111th Street, featuring a variety of vendors and handmade items. Doors are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free Concert - In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia will be hosting a free concert featuring The Ponyboys at Durbin's, 17265 S. Oak Park Ave. from 3 to 4:30 p.m.  

Pancake Breakfast - The Hickory Hills Kiwanis Club is hosting a pancake breakfast with all the fixings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prices are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, $5 for kids age 5 to 12. The breakfast is at the Hickory Hills Community Center, 7800 W 89th Place. 

Affordable Care Act Informational Program - Green Hills Library,8611 W 103rd St., will host an informational forum from 10 a.m. to noon to help you better understand the new government program. 

Free Paper Shredding - Standard Bank of Palos Park, 9700 W. 131st St., will hold a free shredding event from 10 a.m. to noon. 

Lights On Haunted House - Meant for younger ones, or those who find traditional haunted houses a bit too much to take, the Worth Park District will be holding a much more plesant affair. Located at 11500 S. Beloit and open from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost is $2. 

Free Community Paper Shred & Electronic Recylcing Day - State Sen. Michael Hastings will host a recycling and shredding event at 813 School Avenue, Matteson, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Orland Township Flu Shots - The Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave, will be giving flu shots at a cost of $20 to residents only.
