Man, 55, Charged In Worth Domestic Homicide, Victim ID'd

Cook County State's Attorney approves first-degree murder charge for a 55-year-old Worth man, in what cops say is a domestic homicide.

WORTH, IL – A 55-year-old Worth man has been charged in a domestic homicide that happened in early Saturday morning. Anthony Acosta, Sr., 55, is facing a first-degree murder charge.

Around 4:13 a.m., Worth police officers responded to a 911 call for a disturbance in the 11500 block of South Nagle Avenue. When they arrived, officers discovered a deceased woman inside the residence, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as Nicole Acosta, 43. Her cause of death was attributed to “multiple sharp force injuries.” Medical records show her as residing at the Nagle Avenue address.

Police said preliminary investigation and evidence at the scene indicated the incident was domestic in nature.

Acosta was taken into custody without incident at the scene. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a felony first degree murder charge on Sunday.

Worth Police Chief Tim Denton told Patch that Acosta is currently hospitalized, and it is unknown when he will be able to appear for a detention hearing.
