Driver Killed In Early Morning Crash On Oakton Avenue In Park Ridge
A motorist crashed into a utility pole at high speed around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

PARK RIDGE, IL β Police are investigating a fatal crash in Park Ridge early Tuesday.
The single-car crash took place around 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Oakton Street. The driver, who was headed east, died after crossing into oncoming traffic lanes and crashing into two utility poles, police said.
The driver, 37-year-old Shalom Peters, of Morton Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A black Mercedes SUV with a heavily damaged front end and all of its airbags deployed appeared to have skidded to a halt in the front yard of a home, images from the crash site show.
Park Ridge police have called the Major Crash Assistance Team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force to assist in the crash investigation.

Oakton Street was closed between Greenwood and Cumberland avenues for more than six hours following the crash, and the crash led to power outages in the area after the crash. Police advised drivers to use alternate routes.
Park Ridge police said rumors that the driver had been fleeing from police have been determined to be false.
