Driver's License Facility Opens In Des Plaines; Replaces Niles Secretary of State Office
It will offer the same services the Niles facility did, including issuing Illinois driver's licenses, address changes, issuing driver's permits, providing vehicle stickers and many more.

Niles and Morton Grove-area residents no longer need to drive long distances to get to a driver's license facility, after many were forced to do after the Illinois Secretary of State office at Niles' Four Flaggs Shopping Center closed earlier this year.
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White was on hand Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting atΒ the new facility at 1470 Lee Street in Des Plaines.Β
βThis state-of-the-art facility will better serve customers with more services and available parking forΒ people in Des Plaines and the surrounding communities,β said White, according to his office.
Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, from 7:30Β a.m. to noon.
The new location offers the same services as the Niles facility and has a better layoutΒ that is more accessible to persons with disabilities and senior citizens.Β Β
The facility offers services that include:Β β’ Address changeΒ β’ Instruction permit issuance (first-time), vision screening, renewal and duplicateΒ β’ Driverβs license issuance (first-time), vision screening, renewal and duplicateΒ β’ State ID issuance (first-time), renewal and duplicateΒ β’ Commercial driverβs license (CDL) vision screening, renewal and duplicateΒ β’ Temporary disability parking placard issuance (first-time) and replacementΒ β’ Driver record (abstract)Β β’ Motorcycle written testsΒ β’ Vision, written and road testsΒ β’ Vehicle sticker renewal and replacementΒ β’ Nonsufficient fundsΒ β’ Non-CDL road and written testsΒ β’ Organ/tissue donor registrationΒ β’ Voter registration applications
