Economic Development, City Services at Center of Park Ridge Mayor’s Debate
More than 100 people gathered at the Park Ridge Country Club for the second of three events with both candidates for mayor on Wednesday.
Mayoral candidates for the City of Park Ridge, Larry Ryles and Mayor David Schmidt, met for a debate hosted by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce at the Park Ridge Country Club on Wednesday.
The candidates spoke about a variety of topics important to the business community including economic development, city services, city staff, community organizations and more.
Gail Haller, executive director of the chamber of commerce, said it was a good turnout, with more than 100 people in attendance.

“[Chamber of commerce members] read the papers, they go online, but it’s not the same as actually meeting them face to face and shaking their hands,” Haller said. “Some of our members never met the candidates.”
Ryles and Schmidt will meet for their last debate currently scheduled at city hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The event is being hosted by the League of Women Voters and is open to the public.
