Flood Costs Raise Maine Township Road Budget

Additional costs for sand and equipment forced Maine Township to spend more than budgeted in the road fund, the Journal & Topics reports.

The April floods may have occurred several weeks ago, but the effects are continuing to show in Maine Township.

Additional costs for sand, rental equipment and overtime used by the township during the floods have caused theΒ road fund budget to increase by 4.9 percent this fiscal year, the Journal & Topics reports. Maine Township Highway Commissioner Rob Provenzano told the newspaper FEMA will likely not reimburse those costs. Β
