Green Rose Opens First Ever Dispensary in Harwood Heights 8-10-24

Harwood Heights location has a drive thru window and is set to become the first dispensary with drive thru in Illinois if law changes.

Chicago August 9th, 2024 Green Rose is opening its third Chicago area dispensary (www.greenroseil.com) in Harwood Heights on Saturday, August 10th at 9 am. Located at 4660 N Harlem Avenue, this will be Harwood Heights first cannabis dispensary. Green Rose is bringing its “elevated” cannabis experience to Harwood Heights and the northwest suburbs with its designer décor, trademark green rose wallpaper, friendly and experienced budtenders and a vast array of products from the top producers in the world and discounted prices. The dispensary will be open seven days a week from 9 am-10 pm and has free parking for customers. It also has a drive-thru window and is set up to become the first dispensary in Illinois to offer drive-thru service if the state changes the law to allow it.

Green Rose will host grand opening festivities at the dispensary later in August, that will include a ribbon cutting with public officials, entertainment and many special product deals. Green Rose opened its flagship store in Chicago in the River North neighborhood in November of 2022 after becoming the first social equity dispensary in Illinois to pass state inspection. Green Rose opened its second dispensary in Lincolnwood in January of this year.

“We are looking forward to welcoming residents in Harwood Heights to Green Rose whether they are cannabis connoisseur's or first-time customers. We are known for our designer décor and we think the Harwood Heights location is the coolest one of all our dispensaries,” said Ross Morreale of Green Rose. “Our Harwood Heights location is a former bank and is set up to become the first dispensary in Illinois to offer drive-thru service which is more convenient for many adult use consumers especially medical patients and those with disabilities.”

Eight other states currently allow drive-thru service at cannabis dispensaries. Although the Illinois General Assembly failed to remove the drive-thru prohibition last legislative session, that change could become law when the General Assembly reconvenes later this year.

“Green Rose has an excellent track record of success, customer service and public safety at their dispensaries in downtown Chicago and Lincolnwood,” said Harwood Heights Mayor Arlene Jezierny. “We are sure they will be a wonderful addition to our community and will bring a welcomed increase to our sales tax revenue.”

Green Rose is independently owned and operated. Unlike the large multi-state operators who own most of the dispensaries in the Chicago suburbs, Green Rose does not have its own wholesale products to promote and sell. That gives it the freedom to sell a wider and better variety of products and more flexibility on pricing which benefits consumers.

“Since we are an independent, we are able to offer far better pricing on our products and that has helped us attract a loyal clientele at our locations in both River North and Lincolnwood. We believe customers in Harwood Heights will appreciate the better deals and greater product selection as well,” said Morreale. “We are using the symbolism of the rose to soften the stigma around cannabis and have created an environment that embodies the beauty of the cannabis plant and where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.”
