Maloney to Run for Park Ridge Mayor

If elected mayor in April, Maloney said he will resign as alderman.

Park Ridge acting Mayor Marty Maloney plans to run for a four-year term as mayor in April 2017.

Maloney was appointed acting mayor by the Park Ridge City Council in March 2015 following the death of mayor David Schmidt.

"I'm going to run. I'm going to get the paperwork and start circulating petitions to run for mayor," said Maloney in the story by the Chicago Tribune.

Maloney was re-elected as an alderman following an uncontested race after being sworn in as acting mayor in 2015.

Maloney continues to serve concurrently as acting mayor and a voting alderman, with his aldermanic term ending in 2019. If elected mayor in April, Maloney said he will resign as alderman and the City Council will appoint a resident of the 7th Ward to serve out the remainder of the term.
In addition to his service on the City Council, Maloney spent eight years on the Park Ridge Park District Board, including time as president.
