Needle Found In Halloween Candy; Park Ridge Police Investigating

Parents are urged to inspect Halloween candy after a child bit into a York Peppermint Pattie and found a needle, police said.

PARK RIDGE, IL — A needle was found inside a piece of Halloween candy distributed in Park Ridge, according to police.

Law enforcement is investigating after a resident reported Tuesday morning that their child bit into a York Peppermint Pattie and found a small sewing needle inside, according to authorities.

“Residents are urged to inspect their children’s Halloween candy,” police said.

The tainted treat was obtained during trick-or-treating Oct. 31 in northwest Park Ridge, between Manor Lane to Walnut Street north to south and Parkside Avenue to North Dee Road east to west, according to police. The Peppermint Pattie was described as small or “fun size,” with a Halloween-themed spiderweb graphic on the wrapper, police said.
