Obituary: Edward T. Dembowski

His journey through life was as unique as he was—marked by innovation, imagination, and individuality.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Edward T. Dembowski

Age 60, of Plainfield, and formerly of Berwyn, Illinois, passed away, early Saturday morning, August 23, 2025, after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Ed was born in Chicago, on November 29, 1964, to Patricia (Wiora) and the late Edward M. Dembowski. He was raised and educated in Norridge, attending Union Ridge Grade School and graduating with the class of 1983 from Ridgewood High School. Ed then went on to Triton College in River Grove, where he earned an Associate’s Degree.

He is the beloved husband of 33 years to Julie (Salach) Dembowski; loving and proud father of Edward "Jake" (Alison) Dembowski, Kali Dembowski, Ashley Dembowski and Taylor (Anthony) Guido; dearest son of Patricia Dembowski; loving and adoring "Pops" of Theo and Rylee; fond brother of Michael Dembowski and James (Andrea) Dembowski. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Dembowski, and his father, Edward M. Dembowski.

Ed worked for Textbook Warehouse as a Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager. He was previously employed by Follett Educational Services for 25 years.

He was a talented drummer and enjoyed playing golf and poker. He also was a toy and card collector, enjoyed garage saleing, and all things Disney! He loved watching sports, especially golf, and the Cubs!

A memorial visitation for Ed will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. A service of remembrance will begin Thursday evening, at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Christopher Poest officiating.

As it was Ed's request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Cubs for a Cure in honor of Ed Dembowski.
