Park Ridge Community Star: Sonia Dziedzic

Information submitted by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

A dynamo of a woman, Sonja Dziedzic is the perfect example of the old adage, "Ask a busy woman to do something and you will get it done." A member of the Park Ridge Cultural Arts Council for many years, she has led the way as point person for writing, overseeing, and facilitating art grant money that has helped school age children and their teachers, as well as individual artists in Park Ridge.  These grants have also funded summer scholarships and encouraged collaboration among various art groups in Park Ridge.

She leads the art department as the Curriculum Specialist for Visual Arts in District 64 and is in her seventh year in the position. A Girl Scout leader for the past 4 years, she works to empower young girls to find their talents and strengths. Past involvement includes Maine South Color Guard Coach, member of the Board of Brickton Gallery and Art Center and teaching Professional Growth Technology Classes in District 64. Her personal penchant for art and all its ramifications in the community as well as her presence as a qualified staff member from District 64 on the Cultural Arts Council Board help ensure that Park Ridge will continue to be known as a town that loves the arts.
