Second death from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning in Park Ridge

The victim's husband died earlier this month from the same incident

Joan Kean, a 78-year-old resident of Park Ridge, died on November 17, according to her son Brian Kean, who spoke to the Daily Herald.

On November 4, the Park Ridge Fire Department responded to a report of a possible carbon monoxide leak at the Kean home on Bonita drive. Joan Kean and her husband Thomas were hospitalized.

Fire department personnel concluded that a car left running in an attached garage is to blame for the apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Thomas Kean died shortly after being hospitalized, his death was ruled an accident by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Thomas Kean owned American Tradition, a real estate office in Park Ridge. Joan was a saleswoman in the transportation industry before retiring.

Joan and Thomas Kean were married for 57 years and raised six children.
