  1. The county board is set to vote tonight, Apr. 13. on a mobile veterinary surgical center for Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS). The county board will decide whether or not to accept over $75,000 in grant money for PCAPS to buy and customize a box truck that would allow the center to spay and neuter up to 20 animals a day. The unit would be funded by a $25,000 grant from the Peoria Humane Society, a $50,000 grant from the Best Friends Animal Society, and a $250 grant from local Walmart Community Grants Teams.   2. On Monday, Apr. 10, the Peoria Park District and the City of Peoria hosted a press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the improvements at Trewyn Park. Improvements include a new shelter, playground, basketball courts, and accessible paths. Funding for the park improvements was made possible through the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act.   3. A man charged with intentionally setting a fire on Peoria’s South Side last month is set to be arraigned by a Peoria County Grand Jury today, Apr. 13. Christopher Hairgrove, 26, was indicted on Tuesday on one count of aggravated arson and one count of residential arson. Two people were home when the fire broke out shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Mar. 15 on West Malone Avenue and South Ligonier Street. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damages. (25 News Now)
