Peoria Halloween-At-Home 'A Home Run'

The library personalized Halloween At Home kits for more than 60 families.

Since Halloween couldn’t come to us this year --with Lincoln Branch’s famous Haunted House or Lakeview Branch’s Halloween party and parade – we decided to bring some slightly scary fun to you, our patrons.

Katy Bauml of Lakeview Branch created personalized Halloween At Home kits for more than 60 families. Families were asked to fill out a brief questionnaire to help our librarians choose Halloween-themed books and movies their children would love.

The idea was a hit. Demand outran supply, unfortunately.

Each “kit” contained books, one or two movies, age-appropriate Halloween crafts, snacks like popcorn and, of course, Halloween candy.

“We love our Halloween bag,” said Whitney Jordan. “We watched the movie several nights already! Thank you for the perfect Halloween Treat for 2020!”

Knowing that COVID-19 may yet impact our winter holiday celebrations, staff are working hard now on plans for a Christmas At Home kit and Hanukkah kit.

Watch our website and social media pages for details on how to register in the next few weeks.
