Peoria, Normal Fresh Markets To Close
Fresh Market announced Monday it would be closing 15 grocery stores across the U.S., including its Peoria and Normal stores.
PEORIA, IL — The Fresh Market company announced Monday more than a dozen grocery stores will be closing, including locations in Peoria and Normal. WMBD reported these two local spots are in addition to 13 other stores closing across nine states. The news report cites a news release in which CEO Larry Appel said the company has decided to close the long-term, underperforming stores, as the "great progress" they've seen from a turnaround plan hasn't been realized at all locations.
Liquidation sales are expected to begin Tuesday, although it's unclear when the exact closing date will be.
Other store closings include locations in Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia.
