Peoria Zoo, Ameren Illinois announce partnership provide several zoo animals with healthy snacks.

PEORIA, IL — A first look of a new program from Peoria Zoo and Ameren Illinois will take place Monday, for the new initiative aimed at providing many species a new source of natural and healthy food, WMBD reported. The initiative is being driven by a partnership between the zoo and Ameren, and will bring more tree and shrub trimmings from in and around Peoria County to the zoo in the form of "hearty snacks for the animals," WMBD reported.

The zoo will hold an event at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the Giraffe Exhibit that will include a browse feeding demonstration and more information, WMBD said.

Wright Tree Service was employed by Ameren Illinois to cut branches that have grown too close to high power lines and other overhead structures, as its a favorite of many Peoria Zoo species.
