PLAINFIELD, IL — The 127th Street Bridge in Plainfield will close to cars May 24 to block traffic for the next few months, village officials said.

The closure comes after the village recently altered the traffic flow on the bridge crossing the DuPage River to eastbound traffic only to fix an issue with the bridge deck in the westbound lane. Officials said concerns related to traffic control caused them to explore closing the bridge completely until a new deck can be constructed.

The bridge is expected to reopen in September.
