5 Kids In Stolen Car Crash Into Will County Deputy's Patrol Vehicle: Sheriff
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when deputies on routine patrol spotted the stolen car, police said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Five juveniles were taken into custody Friday night after the stolen car they were in crashed into a Will County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle, authorities said.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when deputies on routine patrol spotted a car that was reported stolen out of Joliet near Essington Road and Route 126.
Deputies attempted to stop the car; however, the driver fled and struck an occupied sheriff's patrol vehicle during the attempted escape. According to police, the impact of the collision disabled the stolen car.

The deputy and his K9 partner inside the patrol vehicle were unharmed, authorities said.
Five juveniles were inside the stolen car at the time of the crash. Three of them immediately fled on foot, while the deputy whose vehicle was struck successfully apprehended the driver after a short foot pursuit.

With the aid of a Sheriff's Department drone, the remaining two individuals who fled were located and taken into custody in a nearby wooded area.
The 15-year-old driver of the stolen car was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, criminal damage to government property and other traffic-related offenses.
The four remaining juvenile passengers were released to the custody of their parents. At this time, they have not been charged.
