50-Acre Fire Breaks Out In Plainfield: Authorities

PLAINFIELD, IL — Firefighters responded to a roughly 50-acre blaze Sunday afternoon in Plainfield.

The fire broke out in a field of cut-down corn stubble and was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the area of West 127th Street and South Book Road, according to Plainfield Fire Protection District Chief Vito Bonomo. No one was injured, there were no threats to homes, and the blaze was almost out with emergency crews working on hot spots as of shortly before 3 p.m.

The cause was under investigation Sundy afternoon, according to Bonomo.
