Car Cruise To Take Place June 16 Following Earlier Cancellation

The Classic Car Cruise will see cars 20 years or older drive through the streets of Plainfield.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Following an earlier cancellation, the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Classic Car Cruise on June 16.

The event, which was organized in lieu of the annual cruise nights, was supposed to be held for the first time on June 2 but was cancelled due to the George Floyd protests tearing across Illinois.

Tasha Marsaglia, executive director of the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, told Patch during an earlier interview that the Cruise Nights — started six years ago — has not only been beneficial to local businesses but is also a fundraiser for the chamber.

But due to its cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic, the chamber had to improvise. Health directives from the governor as well as the need to maintain social distancing rules demanded that they try a new spin on this popular event.
