Choking, Theft Leads Domestic Battery Charges For Plainfield Man: PD

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man is facing domestic battery and home invasion charges after he entered a woman's apartment and choked her, according to police.

At about 3:45 p.m. Aug. 11, 28-year-old Thomas J. Bott entered the woman's residence without her permission and battered her by grabbing her face, choking her and pushing her against a wall, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch. She attempted to call 911, but Bott prevented her by taking the phone away.

According to Novak, Bott then fled, and police found him a short while later at the Meijer Gas Station, 13521 S. Route 59. When he was placed under arrest, officers searched his backpack to find a wallet and a full prescription bottle belonging to the woman, Novak said.

Bott, of South Mallard Drive, was charged with one felony count each of home invasion causing injury, robbery, aggravated domestic battery for strangling; three counts of felony domestic battery; two counts of misdemeanor theft; and one misdemeanor count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, jail records show.

The man's arrest was included in Plainfield police's Wednesday blotter.

Bott is due to appear in court for the nine charges on Aug. 27. He remains held at the Will County jail.
