Classic Car Cruise Set For June 2 Postponed Amid Recent Protests

First the pandemic caused cancellation of the annual Plainfield Cruise Nights, and now the protests have postponed the Classic Car Cruise.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Classic Car Cruise scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed due to the recent protests, according to the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event, which was organized in lieu of the annual cruise nights, will be held on June 16.

Tasha Marsaglia, executive director of the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, told Patch during an earlier interview that the Cruise Nights — started six years ago — has not only been beneficial to local businesses but is also a fundraiser for the chamber.

But due to its cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic, the chamber had to improvise. Health directives from the governor as well as the need to maintain social distancing rules demanded that they try a new spin on this popular event.

The Classic Car Cruise will see cars 20 years or older drive through the streets of Plainfield. More information on the updated route can be found here as the chamber reschedules it.
