Driver Killed In I-55 Crash: State Police
Investigations are still ongoing in a fatal crash on I-55, south of Route 126.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred just after 2 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 30, according to the Illinois State Police. State police identified the driver as 28-year-old Arthur Almanza of Romeoville.
In a release detailing their preliminary investigation, the police said a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling northbound on I-55 when it crashed just south of Route 126 in Will County. The vehicle slid sideways off the east side of the roadway, crossed through the ditch and struck a tree with the driver’s side of the vehicle, police said.
The driver of the vehicle had not been wearing a seat belt, police said, and he was pronounced dead on the scene by the Will County Coroner. No other injuries or deaths were reported.
