Dist. 202 Emergency Coronavirus Meal Program Moves To Wednesdays
Plainfield School District officials announced this week that the emergency meal program for students was moving to a once-a-week schedule.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield School District 202 officials recently announced that the district's emergency meal service for children was moving to a Wednesday-only schedule. Free meals will be provided to children aged 18 and younger on Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Food served to families will consist of five breakfasts and five lunches per child.
"During the mandatory school closing, District 202 schools will provide free meal services to for any child 18 years and younger. Children under 18 do not need to be currently enrolled in the district. For example, meals will be provided for a 2-year-old that does not currently attend school," a letter to district parents on the emergency meal program read. "The meals will be a grab-n-go, which will meet the USDA guidelines. Meals will also be provided in a manner that meets the social distancing requirements to keep our community and staff safe."
The food can be picked up at one of the four Plainfield School District high schools; each school has an assigned entrance door for families to use when picking up food. District families should follow their children's school-house color, as specified here:
