District 202 Again Offers $4K In 'Horizon' Grants To H.S. Juniors

Juniors enrolled in one of District 202's high schools can win a grant to help broaden their academic horizons.

PLAINFIELD, IL — District 202 is once again is partnering with the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence on its "Horizon Grants" program, which will reward district high school juniors with grants meant to help the students expand their academic horizons.

Winners of the Horizon Grants can put the money to summer extended learning experiences. Actual grant amounts will depend on applications and available funds, but the total amount awarded will not exceed $4,000, according to the district.

District 202 did not mention how many grants it will give out, or how much total money it will award. Last summer, eight high school juniors took part in summer programs as part of the Horizon Grant program, the district said.

The Plainfield Foundation for Excellence introduced the Horizon Grants in 2012 as part of its mission to support academic innovation at the school district. The foundation has been helping local students since 1983.

Applications for the grant can be found at the district foundation's website under the "Programs" tab. Juniors enrolled in one of District 202's high schools can win a grant to help broaden their academic horizons.
