Dog Still Missing After Semi Rollover In Plainfield

Lucy the dog remained missing as of Monday morning.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police were asking residents to avoid Ridge Road between Route 126 and Plainfield Road Sunday after a rollover crash involving a semi-truck. As of just before 2 p.m., police said the road remained closed for cleanup.

Police also said a dog — a medium-sized dog named Lucy — had run from the crash site and had not been located. The dog was not wearing tags, according to police. As of Monday morning, Lucy was still missing.

Despite a post from another organization on Facebook, Plainfield police said reports that Lucy was found dead were not accurate, and that the dog was still on the loose. A man who said he is Lucy's owner and the driver involved in the rollover also said Lucy is still missing and while she is not accustomed to new people, she is friendly. Lucy is also microchipped, according to the man, who lives in Florida and said he was taken away from the crash scene in an ambulance.
