DUI Driver Was 'Belligerent,' Threatened To Harm Police: Plainfield PD
Police responded to Renwick Road after receiving a call about a car that struck a curb and continued driving with two flat tires.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Nov. 15 911 call about a car striking a curb and driving on two flat tires resulted in a Plainfield man being arrested and charged with driving under the influence and aggravated assault, officials said.
Plainfield police responded at about 10:07 p.m. to the area of Renwick Road and Dan O'Connell Drive for the call about a white Toyota Camry. As officers began following a car that matched the caller's description, the driver pulled to the side of the road.
As police approached the driver, later identified as Francisco Rodriguez Santana, the officer made several observations that led them to believe the man was driving under the influence of alcohol, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch.

Rodriguez Santana agreed to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which resulted in his arrest and citation for DUI. The man was transported to police headquarters for booking procedures, and he was also cited for use of unsafe tires, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage. The sedan was towed from the scene.
While at the Plainfield police department, police also charged the 41-year-old Rodriguez Santana with obstructing justice and aggravated assault.

The first charge stemmed from his "highly uncooperative and belligerent" behavior throughout "the entire process." Novak said he refused to allow his fingerprints or photograph to be taken.
As Rodriguez Santana was released from custody and escorted from the booking area, he "verbally threatened bodily harm to an officer," which led to the aggravated assault charge, Novak said.
The arrest was listed in Plainfield police's blotter on Monday.
