Eastbound Lockport Street Into Romeoville To Close Until Fall

PLAINFIELD, IL — Lockport Road heading into Romeoville will be closed to eastbound traffic in the coming weeks, according to an alert from Romeoville officials.

The closure will be part of the Village of Plainfield's Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction project. Westbound traffic will not be affected.

Eastbound traffic should reroute to use Route 59, Route 30 and Renwick Road. The detour will be in place through October, officials said.

The village is working with the contractor on scheduling a start day for the work, Community Relations Director Amy De Boni told Patch.

The contractor is planning to start storm sewer work this week on Eastern Avenue from Route 126 to Vintage Knoll Drive. Tree root pruning, tree removals and tree protection fencing work are also expected to begin soon on Eastern Avenue and Lockport Street.
