Family Escapes Plainfield Basement Fire

PLAINFIELD, IL — A family was able to safely escape a house fire Wednesday night in Plainfield, fire officials said.

At 8:10 p.m., WESCOM received a 911 call reporting a fire in a single family home in the 25100 block of West Pauline Drive, Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Mark Reynolds said in a news release.

Arriving fire units found a fire in the home's basement and quickly deployed a hose line to extinguish the fire.

The family was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape without any injuries, Reynolds said.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, and damage was estimated at $75,000, according to the fire district.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District was assisted on the scene by the Troy Fire Protection District and Joliet Fire Department.
