Free COVID-19 Tests Available For Will Co. Residents

WCHD announced Friday that free testing will be available at sites in Joliet, Romeoville, Minooka and University Park.

WILL COUNTY, IL — Will County residents can get free COVID-19 tests in several locations this week. The Will County Health Department announced Friday that free testing will be available at sites in Joliet, Romeoville, Minooka and University Park.

In Joliet, a mobile unit from the Illinois Department of Public Health will provide drive-thru testing in the Joliet Park District Inwood Complex parking lot at 3000 W. Jefferson St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

Those getting tested at the mobile unit do not need to show symptoms. People are advised to bring insurance cards, although insurance is not required for the free tests. Nasal swab tests will be done, and results will be available within four to seven days.

The Will County Community Health Center will provide tests in the field house at Lewis University in Romeoville from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The health department advises coming early because there is a daily allocation of 60 tests and lines have been full before 9 a.m. during recent test dates.

The state mobile unit will be at Minooka Community High School from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both this Sunday and Sunday, Nov. 22.

In University Park, the Will County Community Health Center will provide tests at Governors State University on Wednesday. Appointments are required at this site, and people should call (815) 727-8670 for appointments.
