Galan Overtakes Todd in Plainfield School Board Race

PLAINFIELD- As a result of Wednesday’s tabulation of mail-in votes, Toni Galan appears to have overtaken Rick Todd in the Plainfield District 202 school board race. The winners are projected to be Kathleen Baxter, Barbara Seiden, Rod Westfall and Galan.

Nine candidates competed for four spots on the seven-member Plainfield's District 202 school board.

Election results from the County Clerk's Office are below. Votes have yet to be certified. (* denotes incumbent)

Galan said she’d been watching the mail-in votes since last week and took a look at the updated results just before leaving work on Wednesday.

“There’s a lot of work to be done in the district. But I also recognize that there’s another candidate who celebrated that night and struggled last night when this came out, and I understand that,” Galan said. “But now that I will be in the seat it makes having those conversations on student services, retaining teachers and finances a lot easier.”
