IL Seal Of Biliteracy Awarded To 42 Plainfield D202 Students

PLAINFIELD, IL — Forty-two Plainfield high school students were awarded the State of Illinois Seal of Biliteracy, district officials announced.

The students demonstrated a "high level of proficiency in English and in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in another language," said officials at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.

Local districts award the State Seal of Biliteracy to encourage students to pursue biliteracy and honor their mastery of two or more languages. To earn the distinction, students have to pass a foreign language Advanced Placement exam with a score of three or higher.

The Plainfield school district began recognizing students who have earned the seal since 2018, according to a news release.
