Argoudelis addressed residents' concerns regarding a lack of communication about the incident, saying the village is "looking into the issues people have raised" to improve the system that sent the shelter-in-place directive Saturday.

Social media users wrote in the comments of Argoudelis' post that only some were alerted to the shooting. The Plainfield Police Department posted an alert at 12:49 a.m. Monday to inform locals that officers responded to the incident, which posed "no threat to the public at this time."

As our police department pursued its investigation they issued the all clear and the statement that there is not a public threat. At this time they are conducting the investigation per proper procedure in order to properly gather the evidence, make arrests and prosecute those involved.

I know we all have questions and it was kind of scary when the alert went out. But we have to have faith in our police department and have patience as to when all of the details become public. I have the utmost faith in our Plainfield IL Police Department and do not second guess them. The men and women of our PD - top to bottom - are well trained professionals. Let's give them space to do their jobs.

Plainfield is one of the safest towns in Illinois and this occurrence doesn’t change that. It’s a shocking crime that took place in our community and those perpetrators will be prosecuted. And as always, we will continue to examine what we do to ensure Plainfield stays safe for all of us.
