Movies, Concerts At Settlers' Park To Start In June

Three family-friendly movies and three concerts are slated to take place at the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater in Settlers' Park this summer.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Movies and concerts at Settlers' Park are starting up again at the beginning of June.

For about two months this summer, locals can make their way to the downtown Plainfield park, near the intersection of Lockport Street and Van Dyke Road, just south of the Village Hall, to watch movies some weeks and hear concerts others.

Concerts at Settler's Park's Richard A. Rock Amphitheater will kick off the summer season. Performers will rock the stage starting at 7 p.m. June 6, July 18 and Aug. 1. The band Sushi Roll is slated to go on the first night, The Messengers the second, and Strung Out the third.

Movies, being shown on a 20-foot inflatable screen within the amphitheater, will begin around 8:30 p.m. on three evenings this summer. Here is a look at what will play:

  • June 14: "Elemental"
  • June 21: "Migration"
  • July 12: "Kung Fu Panda 4"

Only a limited amount of terraced seating will be available, so locals are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray to both movies and concerts. Concessions, including popcorn and snacks, will be available, with proceeds benefitting the annual movie and concert series.

The schedule could change if inclement weather is forecast on the days of events, village officials said.
