New Weekly Coronavirus Cases In Plainfield Drops To 3-Month Low
During the week of Feb.8, Plainfield reported 119 new cases, following Joliet with 180 cases, according to WCHD.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield reported less than 150 cases of the coronavirus in a week for the first time since November, according to recent data available from the Will County Health Department. The village still continues to have the second-highest number of new coronavirus cases in Will County.
During the week of Feb.8, Plainfield reported 119 new cases, following Joliet with 180 cases. Throughout November, December and January, the village has had the second-most number of weekly cases. The weekly number of cases reported were:
- Week of Nov. 2 - 403
- Week of Nov. 9 - 620
- Week of Nov. 16 - 599
- Week of Nov. 23 - 531
- Week of Nov. 30 - 559
- Week of Dec. 7 - 498
- Week of Dec. 28 - 307
- Week of Jan. 4 - 407
- Week of Jan. 11 - 289
- Week of Jan. 18 - 263
The village is also showing a significant decrease in coronavirus positivity rates across all zip codes.

According to data gathered from the Illinois Department of Public Health, as of Tuesday, the south side of the village (zip code 60586) has an average 7-day rolling COVID-19 positivity rate of 4.03 percent, whereas the north side (zip code 60585) is at 6.46 percent and the central part (zip code 60544) has an 2.55 percent positivity rate.

As of Tuesday, Will County has 64,444 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 606 from Thursday, while the number of deaths increased by seven to 883 during the same period.
