PLAINFIELD, IL — The headlining act for this year's Plainfield Fest won't appear after all, organizers said Saturday afternoon. As temps hit the 94-degree mark (with a heat index of 110 degrees), fans learned that "Wild Thing" rapper Tone Loc would no longer perform with local band Maggie Speaks.

"We have been in touch with Tone Loc regarding his travel to Plainfield and regret to inform everyone that he is delayed in Denver and will not make the show tonight," Plainfield Fest organizers posted on Facebook, adding, ".....but, we have a plan in the works."

Instead, The Temptations singer Theo Peoples will be the celebrity sit-in during Saturday night's Maggie Speaks performance. Peoples was chosen to replace Richard Street of The Temptations in 1992, and asked to join The Four Tops in 1998. He is the only person to ever be a member of both legendary groups.
