'A Turning Point': Wags 2 Wishes To Move To New Facility
"Unexpected circumstances beyond our control" are forcing Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue to find a new home.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue must move from its facility in Plainfield, where it has resided for more than 10 years, due to "unexpected circumstances beyond our control," staff said Tuesday.
Staff at the nonprofit said they received notice that the business can no longer remain at its current space, at 23907 W. Industrial Drive North, and must be fully moved out by the end of February.
In a letter shared on Facebook, the team emphasized the shelter is not closing but searching for a new building "that can support our mission and allow us to continue — and even grow — the work we do every single day."

"We do have a realtor actively assisting us in our search," staff wrote in the letter. "However, if you are a property or building owner (or know someone who is) with a space that may be suitable for a rescue facility, we ask you to please reach out to us directly. Sometimes the right doors open through community connections."
Wags 2 Wishes launched a fundraiser to help cover securing and renting a new building, facility build-out and essential operational needs, and materials for new dog runs, kennels and fencing. As of Wednesday morning, it had collected more than $5,000.

The nonprofit also called on the community to request volunteers to help tear down the current facility, pack and organize supplies, and assist with building out and preparing for the new location.
"This is a lot — and we won’t pretend otherwise," the letter reads. "But if our journey has taught us anything, it's that Wags 2 Wishes has never stood alone. We have pushed through hardship before. We have overcome challenges that once felt impossible. And we know, with every fiber of our being, that this moment is not the end — it's a turning point."
