Michael Ray Sergent Sr., 71, of Shorewood
February 24, 1954 – October 25, 2025

Michael Ray Sergent Sr., 71, of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice on October 25, 2025. Born on February 24, 1954, in Springfield, Illinois, he was the son of the late Herman Ray Sergent and Jacklyn Sergent (née Harms).

Michael dedicated more than 30 years of service as an engineer for Cook County, where he was known for his professionalism, reliability, and kind heart. He took great pride in his work and in the friendships he built throughout his career.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose love and compassion touched everyone who knew him. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Michael Ray Sergent Jr. and Sean Sergent.

He is survived by his son Kevin Sergent and daughter-in-law Stephanie Sergent; grandchildren Sean and Brynn Sergent; and granddaughters Alyssa Crockett-Ross and Kathryn Sergent, daughters of the late Michael Ray Sergent Jr. He is also survived by extended family and many cherished friends.

A private celebration of life will be held with family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lightways Hospice or a charity of your choice in Michael’s memory.
