Plainfield 202 School Board Appoints New Middle School Director
The Board of Education appointed Heritage Grove Middle School Principal Shannon Miller as the new Middle School Director on Monday, Jan. 27.

Plainfield – Shannon Miller, who has served as Heritage Grove Middle School’s principal for seven years will oversee all seven District 202 middle schools next year.
The Board of Education on January 27, 2020 approved appointing Miller as the new director for middle school administration and personnel.

She will replace current middle school director Jennifer Orlos, who will serve next year as assistant superintendent for administration and personnel. Both will start their new roles on July 1, 2020.
Miller earned praise from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell.

“In her time and service to the district at Indian Trail and Heritage Grove Middle Schools, she has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and her connections with staff, students, and parents make her a natural selection to serve in the role of director of middle schools for administration and personnel for District 202,” he said.
Miller started her teaching career in 2001 as a full-time substitute teacher at Grissom Junior High School in Tinley Park. She then worked for four years at Crete-Monee Middle School in University Park, as a Drama teacher, Summer Reading teacher and a teacher for at-risk and underachieving youth.
Miller came to District 202 in 2006 as a Dean of Students at Indian Trail Middle School, then served as Assistant Principal at Indian Trail from 2009-2013, before moving to Heritage Grove.
“In my fourteen years of service within the Plainfield School District, I have had the privilege of collaborating with some of the best middle school educators in the area, and I attribute my successes to the quality leadership and guidance present at the middle school administrative level.” Miller said.
“In my new role, I look forward to continuing to support and enhance educational opportunities for all students, staff and families in the Plainfield community,” she said.
