Plainfield Central To Host Inaugural Summer Jazz Camp

PLAINFIELD, IL — For the first time this summer, Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 band students will have the chance to participate in a jazz camp.
The inaugural Plainfield Summer Jazz Camp will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 4 to June 25 and July 2 to July 23 at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive.
There will be no camp held July 4. Performances are scheduled for June 27 and July 25.

Award-winning jazz saxophonist and Plainfield Central jazz band director Shawn Maxwell will lead the camp.
"The camp is designed to offer students an engaging and fun learning and performance experience," district officials said in a news release.

Open to students currently in grades six through 12, the camp will be split into three groups: from 2-3 p.m. for one high school group, from 3:30-5 p.m. for a second high school group, and from 6-7 p.m. for a middle school group.
The cost to enroll is $125 per student and includes fees for music, staff and a concert t-shirt.
