PLAINFIELD, IL — A school shooting threat against Plainfield Central High School may have been made as a "joke," but it still resulted in charges being filed. Plainfield Police say a juvenile has been charged with a felony Monday in the shooting threat.

At about 9 a.m. Monday, Plainfield Police were alerted to a possible school shooting threat at Plainfield Central, 24120 Fort Beggs Dr., the department said in a news release late Monday. An investigation into the threat resulted in a juvenile admitting to making the statement "as a joke," police said.

Police only referred to the offender as a "juvenile" and did not say if a student at Plainfield Central that made the threat.

Less than a month into the school year, the threat is already the second such incident for District 202. Late last month, a rumor of a threat of violence against John F. Kennedy Middle School in Plainfield was found to be not credible, Plainfield Police said at the time.
