Plainfield Central Student Gets $6K To Achieve Business Plan
Diamond Collins wants to start a business to provide wigs for people struggling with hair loss because of disease.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield Central student with dreams of starting a wig company received a big boost thanks to some charitable neighbors. Diamond Collins, a senior at Plainfield Central, was the recipient of this year's Plainfield Giving Gala grant.
Collins received a $5,700 check from the Giving Gala to go towards the first step in her dream, which is to receive a cosmetology license. Collins will attend the Champions Beauty Barber University after graduating at the end of the school year.
Going to beauty school will help in Collins' efforts to start a business that provides wigs for those who have lost their hair because of disease.

Collins had an "extremely difficult childhood," according to a District 202 press release. She had little family support and was taken in by a foster family. Thanks to her new support system, Diamond has succeeded in high school, and has a bright future ahead.
Plainfield Giving Gala's co-chairs, Ron and Kathy Kazmar, and Executive Director of the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Tasha Marsaglia, presented Collins with the $5,700 check on behalf of the charitable event.

The annual giving gala is hosted by The Friends For Charitable Giving, a not-for-profit. Earlier this year, the charity gave $9,500 to the C.W. Avery Family YMCA.
