Plainfield Christmas Eve Fire Causes $10,000 In Damages
A structure fire in the Oswego Fire Protection District's far south side burned a family garage, a Dec. 24 Fire District report read.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A structure fire on Christmas Eve caused almost $10,000 in damage and nearly burned down a family garage, a recent report from the Oswego Fire Protection District report stated. The fire took place on the 13000 block of Timber Wood Circle, and began sometime between around 7:45 p.m. Firefighters responded within a few minutes of getting the alarm.
The fire began outside, the report said, but quickly spread into a residential family's garage. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour after arriving on the scene, and luckily no flames or smoke entered the residence proper from the garage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, but thousands of dollars worth of damage had been done even in the short amount of time it took for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
Though the fire took place within the limits of Plainfield, the location it occurred at fell under the jurisdiction the Oswego Fire Protection District. Plainfield firefighters nonetheless responded to the scene, the report read, while personnel from Naperville and Sugar Frove Fire Protection Districts provided station coverage.

The Oswego Fire Protection District covers 60 square miles of northeastern Kendall County and about 1.5 miles of northwest unincorporated Will County.
