Plainfield Community Service Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police on Saturday mourned the loss of an off-duty community service officer. Police said Tyler Dufour was killed in an early morning crash in Minooka.

Dufour had served as a Plainfield community service officer for two years.

The DuPage County Coroner's office told the Herald-News that Dufour was driving a motorcycle Saturday morning when he collided with another vehicle at Ridge Road and Prairie Ridge Drive. He was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

"Tyler brought a great work ethic, high levels of energy, and a smile into all his duties and responsibilities," police said. "He will be greatly missed by all his co-workers and by everyone he encountered on a daily basis."

Police said funeral service plans are still pending. Flags were half-staff at the Plainfield Police Department.

"Please keep Tyler, his family, and the members of our department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," police said on Facebook.

According to his Facebook page, Dufour attended Minooka Community High School and Joliet Junior College.

The JJC Police Department posted a Facebook tribute to Dufour on Monday, saying, "Today we mourn alongside Plainfield Police and the family, friends, and community touched by the life of Community Service Officer Tyler Dufour. Tyler was not only a highly regarded member of the Plainfield Police Department, he was also part of the Joliet Junior College student body. Today his loss is felt far and wide."
