Plainfield Coronavirus Update: 18 Cases Confirmed; No Deaths

While the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus continues to grow, there are so far no reported COVID-19-related deaths in the village.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Plainfield continues to grow. The police announced via Twitter on Thursday evening that as of April 1, there were 18 confirmed cases in the village. Thus far, there have been no confirmed deaths from the infection, and one confirmed recovery.

Village residents are urged to continue staying at home whenever possible and practicing social distancing in public when leaving the house is unavoidable. Regularly washing hands and sanitizing high-use surfaces will also help slow the virus's spread. Those feeling ill should call ahead to their local hospital or doctor before going to see them in person.

As of April 3, there were over a million reported cases of coronavirus globally, nearly a quarter of which were in the United States. Illinois alone is currently reporting 7,697 cases, including 167 confirmed deaths.
