PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield could see a bigger Aldi store soon. During its meeting in December, the village Plan Commission received a proposal from Aldi, Inc.

According to the plan, the company wants to build a new store 2.91 acres of the Prairie Creek development located at the northeast corner of St. Joseph Avenue and Route 59. The current Aldi store is located at the southwest corner of 135th St. and Route, but the company wants to relocate to gain better visibility.

The store will be 21,722 square feet and its parking lot will have 108 spots, conforming to the village code. The commission has approved a motion for the site plan to be reviewed and asked the developers to stay in touch with village officials as the next steps are discussed.
