Plainfield Farmers Market Gets New Location For 2024
In its 17th year, the open-air market will be held at a new location due to the ongoing construction at the Plainfield Area Public Library.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A new season of the Plainfield Farmers Market is on the horizon, and this year, it'll take place at a new location.
In its 17th year, the open-air market will return June 2 and be held weekly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays through Sept. 22. Except this time, it won't be held at the corner of Route 59 and Lockport Street due to construction at the Plainfield Area Public Library.
Instead, the farmers market will be set up at the Plainfield Township Administration Building, 22525 W. Lockport St.

One perk of the new location, according to farmers market organizer Suzy Bostanche, is more than 130 parking spaces. Customers can park in front or on surrounding streets and make their way to the back of the building to find new and returning vendors.
"Honestly, I love the new location," Bostanche said. "For the market, it's the best location. ... We love being at the library, so we'll see how this goes."

The return of the summer market means shoppers will have access to a variety of fresh produce, meats, eggs, artisan cheeses, baked goods and handmade items.
Offerings will change as produce goes in and out of season. For example, a farmer from Michigan will begin selling blueberries in July, while others will provide corn once its season begins.
Bostanche said "all kinds of fun stuff" will be for sale. That includes backpacks made by a woman who is also able to customize each pack and ice cream made by a vendor and topped with fresh fruit and granola. North Central College students will also be vendors, selling coffee to fund school trips, including one to Columbia to learn about the origin of coffee beans.
"[There will be] a lot of wonderful crafters," she said. "I'm a big believer in crafters. They make it more fun."
